The one-week sessions provide a meaningful first-time experience for campers who want to get a feel for the sleepaway camp experience withopportunities to try new things and step outside of their comfort zone in a caring, nurturing environment. Two weeks is great for those campers looking for more: more fun with their camp friends, more activities, more unplugged time in nature away from home gaining a sense of self and belonging.
With the ability to choose between one-week sessions or two-week sessions, one of the reasons families choose Camp Hidden Meadows is the flexibility to fit a one-week session or two-week session into your family calendar.
Many families have busy summer calendars with sports, family vacations, and other camps. We offer both one-week and two-week sessions to make it easier for parents to fit camp into their summer schedule and find the right amount of time for their child. Whether it’s a camper’s first summer away or they’re ready for a longer adventure, there’s an option that works for them.
CAN’T BEAT OUR WEATHER!
Summer in the mountains of West Virginia means comfortable days perfect for playing in the river, cool evenings sitting around the campfire, andplenty of opportunities to get outside. Typically, our day-time temperatures are about 10 degrees cooler than the DMV area and the coast.
And yes, sometimes it does rain, but we embrace the weather rather than let it stop the fun while still being safe. Last summer, we were able to still have tons of fun during rainy days with our new pavilion. Rainy days bring their own adventures while sunny days are made for swimming, climbing, and exploring.
CAMPERS CHOOSE THEIR OWN ACTIVITIES!
One of the things campers love most is having a say in how they spend their days. At the beginning of each week, campers provide their top preferences and we schedule four Workshops based on those preferences. Ceramics, Culinary Arts, Archery, Climbing, Fishing, Farm and Garden, Mountain Biking, Horseback Riding, Sports, Swimming and more, campers choose activities that they want to do. NEW ADVENTURES EVERY WEEK!
Our Out-of-Camp trips, called “New Adventures,” provide a great opportunity for campers to meet new friends AND leave camp for a fun trip, where they get to explore more of the surrounding area of West Virginia, which is known for its great mountain biking, climbing, and hiking. As campers get older, they unlock different New Adventures, giving campers a unique experience to look forward to summer after summer. The groups going out of camp range in size from 10 to 12 campers around the same age and at least two staff members. It is a close-knit group heading off to a new adventure experiencing the mountains and rivers of West Virginia in a whole new way. Learn more about our New Adventure trips.
