The Camper Journey

The Camper Journey

February 2025 – We are excited to introduce new, unique, and specific programming tailored to campers’ grades and interests, and ensuring that every summer is filled with new experiences, meaningful traditions, and unforgettable moments.

“Finishing” means the grade that your child completes in the 24-25 school year.

Campers Finishing 1st – 4th graders

Big Sibling/Little Sibling – Younger campers are paired with older campers (Finishing 7th – 9th grades) for weekly bonding activities, shared meals, campfires, Camper’s Choice, and special games.

Time Capsule – “When I’m a CIT” – Campers create a time capsule filled with memories, notes, and items from their summer. Seven or so years later, when they return as CITs, they dig it up and reminisce!

Campers Finishing 5th – 6th graders

Pen Pal Program with Camp Twin Creeks – Campers engage in old-fashioned letter writing with peers from another West Virginia summer camp, forming friendships beyond CHM.

Ice Cream Social – A special end-of-summer celebration with ice cream, brownies, and a variety of toppings for campers and staff to enjoy together.

Little Sibling Program – Older campers mentor younger (Finishing 1st – 4th) grades) campers, sharing meals, campfires, Camper’s Choice, and fun activities to build lifelong connections.

Poolside & Riverside Shark Tank – Campers brainstorm and pitch new ideas to CHM leadership. Winning ideas are implemented in future years, allowing campers to shape the future of camp.

  • 9:15 PM Lights Out – Extra time for bonding & fun.
  • Night Swing & Tower Climb with glow sticks under the stars.
  • Fireside Night – A relaxing night by the campfire on Poolside.
  • CIT Roundtable – Discussions on leadership & future camp roles.
  • Junk Food Party – A fun late-night snack tradition.

Campfire Hill Walk-Up  – A time for our oldest campers to lead the way up to campfire with torches signifying their growth into leadership roles, creating a lasting and symbolic experience as part of the Camper Journey.
