At Hidden Meadows, we offer opportunities for kids of all ages—from a first-time sleepaway camp for 7 and 8 year olds to programs designed specifically to provide overnight camp for teens. Better yet, Hidden Meadows grows with you, so there are new opportunities to unlock each year.

Traditional Camp

Our one and two week program offer campers the timeless sleepaway camp experience in sessions that fit into your busy summer calendar. It’s amazing what we can fit into just a week or two: your camper’s choice of 20 on-site workshops, 10 off-site New Adventures, special events, and ample time connecting with cabinmates.

Daily Schedule

There’s no typical day at camp, but if there was, this is what it would look like:

Earth Expeditions

Earth Expeditions combine our most popular New Adventures into an action-packed week. A small co-ed group spends most of their time out of camp, exploring all that Wild and Wonderful West Virginia has to offer.

Trips may include: overnight canyon canoeing, whitewater rafting, camping, hiking, rock climbing, and more!

What to expect on a Week of Earth Expeditions...

Earth Expeditions is a close-knit and more personalized camp experience led by two dedicated camp counselors. Explore the great outdoors of West Virginia on this week-long out-of-camp experience! Tent camp throughout the wild and wonderful and discover a new adventure every day:

Arrive at camp to prepare for your week of Adventure in Wild & Wonderful West Virginia. Campers will pack up for the week and set up their tents for the night at Camp Hidden Meadows’ Sunrise Village.

Depart from main camp after breakfast and begin the journey. Feel the breeze as you zip line through the treetops at Nelson Rocks. Spend the evening under the stars at a private campground chasing after fireflies and catching plenty of fish.

Have a lazy morning before splashing into an Earth Expeditions exclusive adventure: canoeing down a part of the South Branch of the Potomac River. There are plenty of great stopping points to take a dip and cool off along the way. You might even spot a Bald Eagle or two!

On belay? On belay. Climbing? Climb on at Seneca Rocks, one of West Virginia’s best known scenic landmarks. And after all that climbing? Relax by the water at the Seneca swimming hole or enjoy a sweet treat before hitting the road towards the next campground.

Day 4 (2A/3A): Ever wonder what it feels like to be an ant? Crawl, climb, and slide through a cozy cool underground cavern. Exclusive to Earth Expeditions campers, you’ll get to experience total darkness and learn about navigation and early caving exploration.

Day 4 (2B/ 3B): Putting your paddling skills to the test with Camp Hidden Meadows most popular New Adventure: White Water Rafting down the New River Gorge. A sensational adventure for those seeking a thrill. After a full day of rafting a nice restful evening around the campfire will be just what you need.

Day 5 (2A/3A): Explore the local flora and fauna on a leisurely hike along a scenic trail. A picnic lunch along the way it’s a great end to a week well spent in the great outdoors.

Day 5 (2B/3B): Back to the trees! But this time you’re like a squirrel navigating the Timbertrek course with Adventures on the Gorge. Varying course difficulties make this experience great for everyone, from beginners to experts. Which courses will you try?

After a week of making lifelong friends and exploring the beautiful West Virginia mountains and rivers, campers will go home with a greater sense of adventure, a better understanding of themselves, and an appreciation for their natural surroundings and the environment.

Counselor-in-Training

The Counselor-in-Training Program is specially designed to provide rising juniors in high school with leadership opportunities while having a fantastic camp experience in a small group setting. CITs also gain real-world experience assisting in a variety of program areas in our Traditional Camp as well as introductory training in belaying, ropes course, lifeguarding, group management, and team building skills. Don’t worry, we save plenty of time for our CITs to enjoy their favorite parts of camp!
