Get ready for an epic journey through Iceland’s stunning landscapes!

The final stretch of our adventure takes us to Iceland’s stunning coastline, where you can explore black sand beaches, dramatic sea cliffs, and learn about Icelandic folklore and Viking history!
What to expect on International Earth Expeditions...
*This is a sample itinerary. Dates and details are being finalized with our partners and are subject to change. We will announce more details in the fall.
Depart from Washington DC
We’ll gather at Dulles International Airport in Washington DC for a direct fly to Reykjavik.
Days 1-3: Arrival, Waterfalls, & Rafting
We’ll settle into our new country & timezone before heading off to see Brúarfoss waterfall, enjoy a 4.5 mile hike, and do some epic rafting.
Days 4-7: Trekking & Hot Springs
You can’t go to Iceland without enjoying the hot springs! We’ll follow that with a few days of hiking and camping in the Fjallaback Nature Reserve in the Highlands.
Days 8-9: Glacier Exploration
Time to put on your crampons and experience the Sólheimajökull glacier, while learning about its importance to the Icelandic climate. After the glacier, we’ll make a stop at a black sand beach.
Days 10-11: Coastal Adventure & Return to Reykjavik
More waterfalls and hot springs before returning for our final night in Reykjavik.
Day 12: Return Home
Take a group flight directly from Reykjavik back to Washington DC.
International Earth Expeditions Leadership includes...
…Snaps Sadenwater, 24 years old, with 7 years of experience in camping, trips, and travel across the country, including 5 with Camp Hidden Meadows. Snaps holds a certification as a Wilderness First Responder (WFR). Snaps’ love for the outdoors, his knack for planning (and always having a backup plan), and his dedication to creating a safe, meaningful, and adventure-filled experience are just a few of the things that make him an incredible leader for this trip. His calm presence and enthusiasm help every camper feel confident and excited to explore something new.
…and Zara Craig, 20 years old, is a junior at Oberlin College with 11 years of experience at Camp Hidden Meadows as a camper, counselor, trip leader, and Village Leader. Zara is a certified EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and WFR (Wilderness First Responder). Zara comes from a family of lifelong campers and truly embodies the Camp Hidden Meadows spirit. From leading hikes to inspiring laughter around the campfire, Zara brings energy and creativity to everything they do.
We’re so excited for Snaps and Zara to take our campers on their next big Camp Hidden Meadows adventure to Iceland!
